Reserve your table today! The fish at West Pier is incredibly fresh and flaky, consistently praised for its flavor and quality. Many diners rave about the thick, crispy batter that comes without excess oil, creating the perfect crunch. The portion sizes are generous, making it great value for money in the £10-£20 price range. Customers love the thick-cut chips, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, making them the perfect companion for any fish dish. The curry sauce receives high marks for its flavorful, thick consistency—a must-try dip. Friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere add to the overall dining experience, earning rave reviews from returning customers who appreciate the great views and community feel.
Some feedback suggests that during peak hours, the service can slow down, leaving diners waiting longer than desired. It’s noted that on busy days, particularly Fridays, the single staff member may struggle to keep up, which can detract from the overall experience. A few patrons have pointed out cleanliness issues when the place is busy, implying the need for more staff to maintain the tidiness of the dining area. While the thick-cut chips have their fans, they may not appeal to everyone, especially those who prefer thinner fries. A small but recurring critique mentions the need for proper signposting regarding seating arrangements, especially on crowded days. Ultimately, while the food shines, small operational hiccups can impact the experience during rush periods.
Delicious fish and chips! The perfect meal to take down to the beach and enjoy the sunset with. Staff were very friendly and helpful, would recommend and go again!
The best fish and chips i've ever eaten, the customer service is too good.
First fish and chip shop on the rate tour of Brighton. It ANGERS me that so many of the ratings I just can't understand. The fish was fresh, tasteful and flaky, batter was thick and crispy without a sign of excess oil, didn't even feel soggy. The chips are thick cut, and very crispy, not to everybody's taste a thick cut, but great to go with the pot of curry. One dips and savours every mouthful. The trays are adequate portion size and the curry was finished with chips to spare, wouldn't recommend pouring the curry over due to tiny gaps in the box at the corners. The one staff member was nice but she needed a deckhand in my professional opinion, she can't possibly handle the whole bar and clear up front of house on her own. So if the owner reads this, put an add in the window and don't run the place with 1 person, quality drops and you end up with 2 stars, as the place needed a light clean ect, but nobody there to do it. Curry was thick and flavoursome, no raisins. £13 for what you see, which is a premium price, as usual - that'll do me for lunch and dinner, so money well spent. As usual, picture says a million words, kinda sad I ate the last chip
Lovely service and food! He goes above and beyond for every customer. 10/10 do not understand the low reviews. Lovely place I always come here and lovely view of the sea. Also great portions!
Thought it was quite nice, not sure why all these reviews are so low. I got haddock, chips and peas and the fish was tasty, chips were crispy and the peas were good. It's open late too so a good option if u need a snack along the seafront when nothing else open. Bloke working the counter was friendly and had my order out quick. I'd go back again.
We've tried a few Fish and Chips Restaurants in Brighton and this was the best one. Fresh Chips, tender fish, delicious peas and gravy. Really nice and friendly staff. We'll definitely be back!
Reviews obviously made a difference because we went there on 15th April 2021 and The Friendly Romanian guy serving actually told my daughter he would charge the lower price for eating take away. we watched the fresh fish being delivered, he was friendly too the delivery driver, my dog was given a bowl of water and I had a lovely time there actually, I am big on service . I will be going back.
